“The church is a community of all true believers under the Lordship of Christ.  It is the redeemed and redeeming fellowship in which the Word of God is preached by persons divinely called, and the sacraments are duly administered according to Christ’s own appointment.”  These words are found in the Preamble of The Constitution of the United Methodist Church.

Faith United Methodist Church, Oakland, is indeed a community of true believers.  We believe in God the Father Almighty, and in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord, and in the Holy Spirit.  At Faith Church we celebrate the love that God has for all people.  We try to embody that love with our words and our deeds.  We seek to serve our community in the name of Christ.  Some of our folks do that by teaching second graders at Oakland Elementary to be better readers.  Others do this by delivering food to lower income seniors in our community.  Still others serve by teaching our children and youth that God loves them just as they are.

At Faith United Methodist Church we sing to God using music that is both traditional and contemporary.  We preach the gospel, the good news of Jesus.  We gather at the Table for Holy Communion at least twice a month.  We pray with each other, and for each other.  When life gets difficult, we stand along side each other.  We listen for God, even as we listen to each other.  Being a family is never easy or simple, challenges do come, but at Faith Church Oakland we work hard to be the family of God.

We hope you will visit with us soon.
